At the end of the trip you can gather all the photographs that your travel mates want to contribute (though you may not end up using all of them) as well as scans of the other items. Letting every one in on the project will make the photo book more fun for all, and will help to get everyone in the mindset of coming up with ideas for creating a great group travel book.
If you think that too many cooks will spoil the broth, you can always get ahold of your travel mates after the trip to ask them for contributions.

- Write about how your kids remember the event....this is a great journaling experience. Plus kids love to read their own stories and interpretations of events later on.
- Write from your heart. Share your tender moments and the wishes of your heart. These will be treasured for a life time.
- Make Friendship pages. Share how you met, how long have you known that person, what makes your friendship unique.
- Write a letter to or about the subject you are scrapbooking. Make it personal and inspiring.
- Ask yourself questions about the event: What was my favorite part? What was most embarrassing? What was most memorable? What did you take away from the event?

When you work with craft wire, especially if it is coated, be careful of using pliers or other tools, as the coating is easily damaged. If there is a nick in the coating, the metal underneath will show through and spoil the look of your finished piece.
One can use craft wire to thread beads onto, or to twist into various different shapes for your layouts. Here is an easy technique for you to start with.

My friend is very lucky in having a large number of family pictures from the 1870-1890 period, and I have really enjoyed helping her build beautiful scrapbook pages to enhance the pictures and record what she knows about her family before it is all forgotten. When you have wonderful pictures like these scrapbooking is the best hobby in the world because you can use your talents to tell a story. The first thing to do is digitize the picture. Although we had no pieces of the dress, we wanted to remember the story, so we used a remnant of beaded black lace as a matte for her picture and made a tiny embellishment, a pair of ballet shoes (to represent her dancing). For journaling we made a large tag scrunched it up and then smoothed it out and applied Tea Dye Distress ink and stamped and embossed it with a gold book and pen before beginning to write her story.
On the facing page my friend created a short diagram like a family tree, then sent away for her great great grandmother's birth certificate, scanned and reduced it in size to add it to the page. One thing I would like to say before I begin talking about scrapbooking - Be Careful - it can become addictive. I started in quite a small way. I collected postcards from the places we visited on holiday or for work. Then I began posting them in an album and writing notes about the place or the events or the day. I was so impressed when a friend showed me her box, which she received as a birthday present from her mother. So it went on my Christmas list and I received my first one for Christmas 2009. Since then I have bought another for myself,ordered one from Amazon as a retirement gift for a work colleague and another as a present for my niece when she moved to Canada.She was so impressed by mine and it gave her a focus for making some trips while she was finding her feet in a new country.
